I am excited for the 2016-17 school year and look forward to an amazing year in 4th grade. Each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. I view my role as an educator is to provide and facilitate learning for all children, so each can reach their fullest potential.
It's hard to believe but this is my 28th year as a teacher and my 25th at Masonic Heights. I have taught the majority of my career in 4th grade but also spent 8 years in 3rd grade and 1 in a split 2/3 classroom I attended Eastern Michigan University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master's of Arts in Teacher Education with a Reading and Language Major. I continue to take courses in education as new methods and ideas are evolving every day. Children and learning today are very different from children 20 years ago and I want to stay fresh and knowledgeable to provide what is needed for today's students.
I am happily married, have two beautiful daughters and two furry dog children as well. Family time and values are important in our family. My time away from the classroom is spent with family, friends or traveling in our camper. When I'm not being a mom or a teacher, I enjoy scrap-booking, reading, and crafts.
